Regional training days are events organised and delivered by expert faculty from all regions of our fabulous city, mapped to your curriculum. Some events are virtual, utilising MS Teams, whereas some will be delivered in person (hence capacity limited). If an event is labelled pan-London, trainees based in any rotation (NW, NC, NE, SE or SW) at the equivalent stage in the curriculum can attend.
To book onto an event, click on the booking link and follow the instructions. If you are not sure what events are relevant to your needs, speak to your educational supervisor or college tutor in the first instance. You will also need to book study leave from your department, so please follow local policy and provide sufficient notice. You may not necessarily receive invitations for relevant events, so ensure you check this site regularly. If you miss an event, some are recorded and uploaded for you to view on the north or south London MS Teams channel.
North East Rotation
Trainees in this rotation will get contacted directly by the organisers with programme and details on locations and registration. Days delivered by other rotations are also open to trainees from the NE rotation, when delivered virtually or indicated as pan North London or pan London.

North Central Rotation
The Stage 2 RTD programme is structured to cover the relevant areas of the 2021 RCoA curriculum. It comprises a mixture of lectures, e-learning and interactive sessions. They are led by anaesthesia consultants, experts in the subspecialty. The programme is coordinated by Dr Laura Elgie, Dr Lasitha Abeysundara and Dr Viv Hannon.
Virtual events are pan-London and are open to all trainees, in the equivalent stage, across the school.

Stage 3- combined NE, NC & NW
The London School of Anaesthesia stage 3 RTD's provide broad and high-quality teaching to senior Anaesthesia trainees covering key clinical and non clinical areas of the curriculum. It runs across South London and North London programmes, with several joint days and a mix of delivery; face to face, virtual and hybrid.
The lead organisers for stage 3 NLAP RTDs are Dr Katherine MacGloin (NE) Dr Alexa Strachan and Dr Sarah Wintle (NC), Dr Ajoy Pandit (NW)

Anaesthetics Novice Course North Central London
We run two Anaesthetics Novice Courses per year for trainees starting their anaesthetic rotations. These may be core anaesthetic and ACCS trainees as well as ACCS EM trainees.
The course runs over 4 days & 1 simulation day. We cover a range of topics tailored towards helping you start out in your anaesthetic rotation. These are delivered by means of lectures, small group discussion sessions and practical sessions.
In August, the course is designed for trainees starting their rotations in anaesthetics within the North Central rotation.
The February course is open to trainees from a wider region – usually North Central & North East London, but we are open to trainees from South London as well.
The lead organisers are Dr Elizabeth Cervi & Dr Anish Amlani.

Imperial Novice Course (NW)
Our novice course consists of 4 separate but related components which are summarised below:
1. Online modules. Access to this material is not necessarily linked to our February / August courses. The online modules are freely available to all anaesthetists (register here for access). The online course consists of 8 modules which aim to cover the essential knowledge, drugs, equipment, and skills necessary to provide safe anaesthetic care to patients. Each module is composed of several topics which need to be completed at a self-directed pace. Most topics are covered in standalone video podcasts of approximately 5-15 minutes duration. A certificate of achievement for completion of each module will be available for you to upload to your training portfolio.
2. Interactive sessions x4 (Zoom) - the content of our online modules is applied in small-group discussions of case-based scenarios. The August 2023 course interactive session dates are as follows: Wednesday 9th August, Thursday 17th August, Wednesday 23rd August, Thursday 31st August 2023
3. Practical skills workshop day (Face-to-Face) - airway management, spinals, epidurals, arterial lines and central lines - Friday 1st September 2023
4. Simulation day where we cover a mixture of common and uncommon emergencies – Week beginning Monday 16th October 2023 – exact dates TBC

Course Fees: Free for HEE London School of Anaesthesia & Intensive Care trainees working towards IAC. Please note, funding is claimed on your behalf. Non attendance may incur a charge of up to £125.
£125 for non London School of Anaesthesia trainees
Course Format: 4 days of small group talks and workshops (once a week), Simulation day 4 weeks later.
Eligibility: All anaesthetic / ACCS / complimentary specialty trainees who are working towards achieving their IAC.
